Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 cup butter (softened)
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar (packed)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped smoked brisket (fat trimmed)

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a bowl, combine flour, baking soda, and salt.
  • In another bowl, beat butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla until creamy.
  • Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  • Gradually mix in the dry ingredients until combined.
  • Stir in chocolate chips and finely chopped smoked beef.
  • Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto baking sheets.
  • Bake for 9–11 minutes until golden brown.
  • Cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Chop smoked beef very finely to evenly distribute flavor. Use mild smoked beef (apple or cherry wood preferred) to avoid overpowering sweetness. Do not overbake to keep cookies soft and tender.
